Amy has been working in busy clinics and private practice since she graduated and has worked at Modern Acupuncture in Cool Springs from 2019 to 2021, taking some time to be with her children and grandchildren in Indiana for a couple of years. She recently re-joined the team in Murfreesboro in 2023 and has been excited to meet new patients and treat long-term members alike. She likes to swim,  hike,  bike, paint watercolor, crochet, and listen to her kids play music in and around Nashville.

M. Rachelle Poffenberger, MSOM, L.Ac / Owner #362M. Rachelle Poffenberger, MSOM, L.Ac / Owner #362

Rachelle is a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncturist and Herbalist, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Florida College of Integrative Medicine in 2009. Practicing Eastern Medicine for over almost 15 years, she’s traveled the world advancing her knowledge in alternative and complementary healthcare modalities to offer more effective treatments for modern disorders.

While the focus of her practice has largely been in fertility and reproductive health, she believes that the same principles of balance and sustainability applied throughout the stages of family planning can also be applied to the stages of building (or rebuilding) physical and mental health.

In June of 2022, her and her husband, Adam, took over ownership of the Modern Acupuncture Cool Springs location in Brentwood, TN and less than a year later became co-owners of Modern  Acupuncture’s sister clinic in Murfreesboro. Their aim is to make traditional medicine easy to understand and integrated into everyday health and wellness. She still actively treats patients, offering cupping and guasha, in addition to current acupuncture services in Brentwood.

Jennifer Drews Pankey, L.Ac.Jennifer Drews Pankey, L.Ac.

After graduating with a degree in psychology and becoming a massage therapist, Jenn was ready to take patients to a new level of healing.  As a result of that burgeoning passion, she graduated from Pacific College of Health Sciences, Chicago in August of 2010 with a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine.

For Jenn, acupuncture resonates deeply, echoing truths she had found along the path of her life.  Coupled with her massage therapy career, she has well over 20 years of clinical experience, during which she has amassed a huge knowledge base about the physical structures of the body.  Her work alongside chiropractors has given her much experience with orthopedic conditions; joint and body pain.   She has treated many and varied physical and mental conditions,  from digestive issues to women's reproductive health, from headaches to anxiety and stress, and so many many more.  She has seen the positive outcomes that acupuncture can provide and has borne witness to the stories of amazement and appreciation in her patients for the life changing relief acupuncture has provided.

She joined the Modern Acupuncture team because she firmly believes in the power of this medicine and how effective this model is for reaching patients across the spectrum of the community. When she isn't treating patients, Jenn can be found cheering on her football-playing son and football-coaching husband, indoor gardening, or bird-watching.

Dr. Kara Timm, DCDr. Kara Timm, DC

A native of rural Ohio, Dr. Kara Timm first began receiving chiropractic care after a severe electrical shock at age fourteen. She made an incredible recovery and very quickly decided that her original career choice of pediatrician would be replaced by becoming a chiropractor. She graduated from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and then moved to Tennessee where she eventually opened her own practice that focused primarily on children and expectant women.

Serious health issues forced Dr. Timm to close her practice in 2011 and after her son was born in 2013, she again began having serious health issues, which left her almost immobile. This time, she turned to acupuncture and Functional Medicine to get to the root cause of why she was so ill. She learned that she had several autoimmune issues that were being exacerbated by food allergies and stress. Between a strict diet, chiropractic, and acupuncture, she regained her health.

In late 2016, she became board certified to practice acupuncture and is currently pursuing board certification in Functional Medicine & Nutrition. She is also an adjunct instructor at Purdue Global University.

Getting to the root cause of her own health issues literally changed Dr. Timm’s life and inspired her career path, and also allowed her to rebuild her health enough to work as a busy physician, become a triathlete, and most importantly, be an active, involved mom that her son deserved.

Edmund Erickson, L.AcEdmund Erickson, L.Ac

Edmund graduated from Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, California. He decided to become an acupuncturist after visiting and being treated by an acupuncture physician and personally experiencing the healing acupuncture can bring.

He has been especially impressed with the way he has witnessed it improve mental health and support stress of any kind. He recently joined Modern Acupuncture in 2023, but had studied under Bob Doane, the clinical director of Modern Acupuncture and inspiration for our “Zen Lounge” setting. He is a new Nashville transplant, hailing all the way from California. So far he is loving Music City and loves the whole music vibe!

Dr. Karman Gossett, D.Ac, L.Ac/OwnerDr. Karman Gossett, D.Ac, L.Ac/Owner

Dr. Karman Gossett is a licensed and nationally board-certified acupuncturist with over fifteen years of experience in healthcare. Dr. Gossett earned her Doctorate, graduating with high honors, from Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, California. She also holds a Master’s in Acupuncture and Classical Chinese Medicine from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine in Sugar Grove, North Carolina, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Dr. Gossett has been appointed by both Governors Bill Haslam and Bill Lee to serve on the Acupuncture Advisory Committee, under the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners. She proudly serves the citizens of Tennessee by ensuring the safe practice of acupuncture statewide.

In 2020, against all odds, she opened Modern Acupuncture Murfreesboro right after the pandemic hit. Since then, Modern Acupuncture has served hundreds of people in the Middle Tennessee area and continues to grow. As a Tennessee native, Dr. Gossett is delighted to serve the healthcare needs of the Murfreesboro community and surrounding areas.

I enjoy being able to get an appt easily and go right in when I need the treatment. The atmosphere is soothing and the acupuncturists are good. I have gotten immediate relief in nearly every treatment I’ve had. I went to Karman for a year or so before she opened this location and I have great confidence in her. I like knowing that the owner is skillful and conscientious.
