Meet Our Acupuncturists, L.Ac.

Melissa Sawyer L.Ac, Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM) #ACU.0002562Melissa Sawyer L.Ac, Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM) #ACU.0002562

After graduating with a psychology degree from University of Buffalo, Melissa was drawn to the acupuncture profession for its ability to help patients to begin a life of healing and balance. In fact, Melissa had health issues of her own that originally brought her to acupuncture after Western medicine alone fell short. Through her personal healing experience with acupuncture, Melissa is inspired to heal others through holistic treatments. Melissa graduated from Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver; she loves being an acupuncturist and is constantly invigorated by the results she sees in her patients.

Melissa chose to join the Modern Acupuncture team because she believes wholeheartedly in the mission of “Making Lives Better,” and feels that affordable and accessible care can bring acupuncture into the mainstream.

When she isn’t treating patients, Melissa can likely be found rock climbing. Melissa is passionate about adventures. She loves traveling and staying active by dancing, skiing and hiking.

Stacey Hughes L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. #1697Stacey Hughes L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. #1697

Stacey attended the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine. Like many healers, her journey to practicing acupuncture began on the road to healing herself. Acupuncture and herbs helped her to have a baby after two years of trying to solve her fertility issues with Western Medicine.

Eastern Medicine changed her life in the best possible way so she decided to become an acupuncturist to help others as well. Stacey believes acupuncture makes peoples lives better by resetting the nervous system into a relaxing, healing state. "Our lives have become so hectic in this modern world that we are often operating in fight or flight. It not only provides relief from stress; it alleviates pain, calms inflammation and restores overall health," Stacey says.

She decided to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team because she resonates with its mission to make lives better through the delivery of affordable and approachable care for people in her community. When asked what she loves most about Denver, Stacey says “Denver is an amazing place to practice acupuncture because of its outdoor focused lifestyle. People here are already in the mindset to live a healthful life and acupuncture fits seamlessly into that picture.”

Dr. Eliz Erman-Britton D.TCM, L.Ac, Dipl.Ac (NCCAOM), Lic # 0002565Dr. Eliz Erman-Britton D.TCM, L.Ac, Dipl.Ac (NCCAOM), Lic # 0002565

Dr. Eliz  Erman-Britton has been a dedicated practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 14 years.  Her studies at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, including an internship Cheng Du University of TCM in Si Chuan, China, and clinical experience working in a Western Medicine Family Practice have helped her build a unique understanding of how Chinese and Western medicine can coexist and mutually benefit from each other.

Her clinical experiences include evaluating and treating pain management, PTSD, sleep disorders, headaches, migraines, anxiety, immunology, sports trauma, neurological issues, gastrointestinal disorders, and psycho-emotional imbalances, among others.

Eliz believes that Acupuncture has the ability to improve the physical social, and mental wellbeing of an individual - ultimately allowing us to live a better quality of life each day. Modern Acupuncture seemed like a perfect fit as Eliz is very drawn to community acupuncture as she enjoys the diversity in cases, pace and its ability for treatments to be given at a lower price point.

As a Denver newbie, she loves how active the majority of people are outdoors. During her free time, Eliz likes to go hiking, kayaking, tend the garden at home, and have adventures with her family.

My initial experience at M.A. Acupuncture was incredible. Everyone was very professional from the minute I walked thru the door. Melissa is a terrific acupuncturist with so much caring knowledge. I recommend this place to everyone.

This is the highlight of my week during the winter. Very relaxing and refreshing. Haven't had a cold or flu in the year and a half that I've been coming here.

I could not recommend this location enough- the environment, the lovely employees of the establishment as well as the pure & positive energy and vibe that emanates is so wholesome and welcoming. Each of the acupuncturists are so gentle and caring, always asking how the patient is feeling that day and what they would like to work on within that session. I have never left feeling like I wasn't taking something away from the visit and always look forward to the next appointment. Thank you all for making this such an enjoyable experience, every time!

I've had acupuncture with private practitioners who focus on me for the full hour and have experienced community acupuncture in two locations, including Modern Acupuncture. Modern Acupuncture completely fulfills its promises in terms of providing convenient treatment in a relaxing, safe environment. I especially appreciate the drapes between each chair--it feels much more Covid-safe than any other community setting. The heated stress-less chairs and nature scenes feel downright luxurious. The only thing I really wish the acupuncturist would do is assess my pulses before the treatment, as I'm never sure I'm aware of all the relevant symptoms. The other community acupuncture I've gone to takes the pulses. Nonetheless, given the limitations of the diagnosis and needle locations, the price is fair. If my body needs more (cupping, moxibustion, herbs, a pulse and tongue diagnosis, acupuncture on the ideal points, longer time for treatments), I need to pay more to an individual practitioner with a private office. And that's okay. I appreciate having options, and Modern Acupuncture is a really good, affordable option that enables me to experience acupuncture regularly.

Absolutely love this place. Such a peaceful and relaxing environment. Feel so wonderful after my treatments. Highly recommend to everyone. Very reasonable prices too. I will be continuing treatments for quite some time because I feel so much better!
