Francy attended the Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. She decided to become an acupuncturist to improve patient’s health in a manner that treats the cause of the illness and not just the symptoms. Hearing patients tell her how great they feel after treatment when conventional medicine didn’t help is what Francy loves the most about being an acupuncturist. Modern Acupuncture’s principals align with her own, which is why Francy decided to become part of the Modern Acupuncture team. She also likes that Modern Acupuncture is a place where patients can come to relax and separate from the daily stressors causing some of these illnesses. Outside of work, Francy enjoys reading, watching movies with family, swimming, and dancing.
Megan graduated from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture helped her with her own health issues and resolved her migraines. She was amazed at all that acupuncture can do and knew that she wanted to help others as it had helped her. She is excited to be part of the Blakeney Modern Acupuncture team because she loves the modern approach to this ancient medicine. Modern Acupuncture makes this medicine easily accessible to all in a way that adapts to their schedules and lifestyles. Megan loves the Charlotte area because there is so much to explore when she is spending time in nature, from the ocean to the mountains.
Jeff has always had a passion for alternative methods of healing. As an NCAA athlete, they were limited on the methods for pain relief and recovery. He found acupuncture to be beneficial and always wanted to find a way to incorporate this into his future. In the current climate with opioid dependence increasing acupuncture is a safe alternative to pain relief. Acupuncture is also affordable in relation to costs involved in relation to medicine. Not just pain relief but boosting the immune system to keep people out of the hospitals, increasing energy to allow those to work a full productive day and still have the energy when they come home to be present with their family. It was a gift that he found the Modern Acupuncture team because the model reflects his same values in wellness in a first class manner but also affordable. Jeff received his acupuncture certificate from the National University of Health Sciences. What he love most about the city of Charlotte is the growth and diversity moving into the city.
Born and raised in Yangon, Sophie left Myanmar when she was a teenager for the friendly but chilly shores of Canada to pursue her education at the University of British Columbia where she obtained a BA and then MA in Economics. After working in the corporate world of finance for a while, she ventured forth to the sunny shores of California to do a summer Econ program at UC Berkeley. It was there that she first tried something a bit off the beaten path. She took a basic acupressure course at the Acupressure Training Institute on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, where she discovered that natural healing systems like acupressure/acupuncture are the way to prevent diseases and prolong life.
Since then she has trained in an astonishing array of holistic healing programs that include an Acupuncture degree from a reputable TCM college in Vancouver, BC, Canada in 2013. After passing the Canada Acupuncture board exam and being licensed, she returned to Myanmar to look after her aging mother. There, she started an acupuncture practice to serve the international community that was longing for complimentary & alternative treatments that include acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, reiki and qi gong. She also collaborated with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive treatments using variety of acupuncture techniques and principles to achieve the best possible health outcomes for the patients/clients.
She is now NCCOM certified and licensed in North Carolina to serve the community here.
In her free time, Sophie loves to read, write poems and garden. Her favorite passion in life is to help others achieve their wellness potential by using the knowledge of natural healing methods and lifestyle strategies.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all the staff at the Blakeney location for always being polite and respectful. I have been a member there for several months and it is a very calming and peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately, I was in for a visit on 8/4/22, when I came out of the restroom to an explosive one-sided yelling discussion by an African American female and her ... I guess ex-husband? I was early and sat down in the lobby to wait for my appointment. This female had apparently bought a membership to the clinic and had not been using the benefits and, as the agreement all customers sign, got charged her monthly fee. She had called earlier in the day to ask if she could transfer some of the credits to her daughter, My contact plainly states that your visits are NOT transferable, and the staff member had apparently explained that on the phone earlier. She came into the business to address the staff member on how he had handled the call. Instead of her trying to calmly discuss the situation, she brought her husband,? ex? with her to defend her. She was very loud and disruptive to the receptionist, continually attempting to belittle him by saying, "that's right your nothing but a receptionist". I heard that sentence at least 8 times while I waited. Her treatment of the staff member was appalling! Demanding an apology for her treatment on the phone and then turning around pointing her finger at me stating "you would have never treated HER like that!" "You did this because I'm a black single mom." then she stormed out the door. Her husband? ex? was slightly calmer but also was demanding the staff member apologize to her and explained that the staff member had caused him to have to cancel all his afternoon appointments to have to come down to the clinic and handle this situation, The female continuously flew in and out the door in her loud rant, accusing the staff member of basically being a racist, By this time another member had arrived and this female brought her into the mix too. Again, she pointed her finger at both of us and said, "you would never have treated either one of them the way you did me." This other member was of another culture as well. First off, this lady looked and acted very disrespectfully. If she did not agree with the contract rules, she should have asked to have the manager call her back and calmly discuss this on her own. She was definitely an adult and shouldn't need her husband? ex? to fight her fight for her. Second of all, she should have never brought 2 innocent bystanders into her issue. Her husband? ex? is enabling her poor behavior and rudeness. He stated that he worked in the big corporate world and believes in giving great customer service and feels the customer is always right. Well, I too work with the public in an important position, and I am here to tell you the customer is NOT always correct! In my business, I would have called security on this lady and have her escorted out! There is no reason to disrupt a whole business, involving innocent customers into the issue and belittling and berating a staff member in a front lobby because you have issues. This staff member held his composure very professionally, even though to 2 had him cornered at the desk, I was so embarrassed for him because she continually kept saying.."That's right you're just a receptionist!" Third, it takes all different types of people, with all different skills, to make a business successful! Whether you're a receptionist, a therapist, a doctor, a CPA, a nurse, CNA or an environmental service member. Each is important to the business to run right! These 2 individuals seem to have forgotten that and feel they are far more superior, but they are not. Fourth, the staff member has never shown any signs he is racist when I have been there. That is a very strong accusation to make about someone and is used far too often. The true fact is she did not get what she wanted and was throwing a fit. There were 3 cultures there when this was going on and she was the only one acting Racist. She was actually bullying the man, which is just as bad as Racism. I have NO respect for BULLIES! The long and short to this is that we are all under stresses of everyday life. We need to sometimes stop before we go ballistic on someone and think.... how would we like someone to treat us. Look at the other side, maybe you are not always right. Maybe you don't always get your way and you have to deal with it because you signed the contract and didn't pay attention. It's not always a race issue, so don't jump to that conclusion. Look at how you handle problems or do you handle your own problems. It's your husbands? ex? fault for cancelling his appointments that day and allowing you to "ruin his whole day." You should be able to deal with your own issues and not cause him to feel he has to stop his world to solve your problems. That's called enabling. I was so upset with the way the staff member was treated I could not relax for my appointment. I kept thinking of how disrespectful and rude this lady was and I didn't even know her. She was not only rude to the staff member but to 2 innocent people. She thought she and her husband? ex? really put the staff member in his place but unfortunately, they were the ones that looked disrespectful and rude in the end. I want everyone who reads this to know that the staff at this location is WONDERFUL! They are respectful, helpful and always very nice! I was referred here, and I would recommend them to anyone. Try to be more kind to one another and treat people with the respect you would want to be treated with! The world is rough enough without these types of people adding to it. Life is a gift, ENJOY! It may be gone before you know it, don't waste it!
